Money Magazine Best Places to Live

Money Magazine revealed its list of the best places to live in the United States. Each city was judged by very strict standards including crime rate, quality of schools, job opportunities, safety, and each cities particular charm.

In this years list, Columbia/Ellicott City, Maryland ranked number two according to Money Magazine. With a population of over 155,000, Ellicott City offers great homes and tons of great restaurants. The employment opportunities are also great in this Maryland city. The unemployment rate is a mere 5.2 percent.

This city is no stranger to being known as one of the best. In 2008, Ellicott City ranked number 8, which shows that the town is still on the rise for being a great place to live in the United States.

Big employers in the area include the Fort Meade Army base and the National Security Agency. These two employers give the area over 8,000 jobs, and it is expected to get thousands more in coming years. It is also within short driving distance of both D.C. and Baltimore.
